Warwickshire Bears v Aces 1

 The Game:  Aces travelled to Warwickshire for their first game of 2019 in British Wheelchair Basketball’s Division 2 South against Warwickshire Bears.

The games started with Warwickshire Bears winning possession from the tip-off but were unable to score from the first possession of the game, however the first points of the game coming from the home side from the free throw line a few minutes later. The first quarter developed into an end to end game, however Aces were defensively poor, giving Bears plenty of opportunities at basket. Offensively Aces struggled to create any clear cut shooting opportunities against a well-drilled Bears team.

Hackney Sparrows v Aces 1

The Game:  Aces travelled to London for their last game of 2018 in British Wheelchair Basketball’s Division 2 South against Hackney Sparrows.

The game started with Aces scoring the first points of the game courtesy of Jordan Luce. Defensively Aces remained resolute, severely restricting Sparrows attacking play. This led Aces to not concede a basket for 4 minutes. Offensively Aces were able to break through a well-drilled defence to convert shooting opportunities into points on the board.

The Game

Aces travelled down to Lancing for their second game of the 2018/19 season in British Wheelchair Basketball’s Division 2 South against Sussex Bears, a team who Aces encountered the season before, with two highly entertaining games being played.

The Game

Aces got their 2018/19 season underway in British Wheelchair Basketball’s Division 2 South at home to Thames Valley Kings. The game started with Kings winning possession from the tip, however Aces were able to successfully defend Kings first offensive move of the game, before going on to score the first points, of what proved to be an end to end game.

The Game:
London Titans
hosted Aces in their penultimate game of the season. The game started with Aces wining the tip, who were able to translate the early possession into 2 early points. Aces set up with a structured press that proved successful in both phases of the game. The first quarter saw a basket by Denny Vettam on his debut match for the team. Titans scored their first basket at the end of the quarter with the first quarter score at 20-2 to Aces.

The Game

The snow was falling but that didn’t stop the Wheelchair Basketball at Aylesbury High School as Aces took on Brixton Ballers. It was the first game in the clubs new kit. Everyone at Aces would like to take this opportunity to thank Gerald Simmonds for sponsoring the purchase of the new kit and Fiona O’Donovan for organising and ordering the kit.

The Game

Aces travelled to Bury St. Edmonds to play Bury Bombers. The game started with Aces wining possession from the tip, Aces went on to score five consecutive baskets before Bombers responded with a point from the free throw line. Both sides went on to score another basket, before Aces closed out the quarter with six unanswered baskets.

The Game

Aces travelled to Brighton to play the undefeated Sussex Bears. The game started with Aces wining possession from the tip, Aces went on to score three consecutive baskets before Bears responded with three of their own with a basket from the paint and a point from the line. The first quarter continued to be a close battle with Aces edging the game, 10-9 at the end of the first quarter.

The Game:
Aces had their first game of 2018, travelling to Southampton to play Hampshire Harriers at Oasis Academy Mayfield. Aces won possession from the tip-off but were unable to score from their first spell of possession. Aces moved straight into a structured press, limiting the home sides options in transitional play. With the aid of forced turnovers Aces were able to counter attack fast, causing real trouble for the home side. Aces strong defensive play and fast transitions led to Aces winning the quarter 20-4.
