This past Thursday the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Heritage Flame Lighting Ceremony took place at the birthplace of the Paralympic movement, Stoke Mandeville Stadium and we are incredibly proud to say that Aces played a small part in the occasion. 

The Paralympic Heritage Flame Lighting Ceremony first took place at the internationally recognised birthplace of the Paralympic movement, Stoke Mandeville Stadium for the 2014 Sochi Winter Paralympic Games. Since then a flame has been lit at the spiritual home of the Paralympic Games for the Rio 2016, PyeongChang 2018 and now, the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

Club members, Daniel (along with his sister, Charlotte), Elana (with her mum, Wendy) & Rhys (with  his mum, Rozi) took part in the procession, carrying flags created by members of the local community in flag making workshops. Both Daniel and Charlotte carried the flags they had created.

As a club, Aces have always been proud of our link to Stoke Mandeville Stadium and we were incredibly honoured to be involved. Everyone at Aces would like to thank WheelPower, Buckinghamshire Council and Walk The Plank for allowing us to be a small part of such a special event.
